This cigar starts off very mild with hints of cinamon and spicy sweetness. The flavor becomes bolder as the cigar progresses. It really has a nice unique flavor, and the thing I like about it is the fact that it finishes very strong despite the mild start. It is perfectly constructed and burns nicely. This is an excellent cigar.
This is a toro sized cigar that bosts “100% Authentic Corojo” on the tube. The initial taste is full bodied, peppery, with an earthy flavor that has some hints of spice and coffee. It stays pretty consistent throughout, and is a well made cigar. This is a good choice for the smokers who prefer the peppery cigars.
This is a perfectly constructed cigar. It starts off mild to medium bodied with a smooth earthy flavor mixed with nuts and cocoa. It really sweetens up halfway through and maintains a complex flavor. A rich chocolate espresso flavor develops after halftime. It is more medium to full in body now. I’m already thinking about shopping box prices on these. This is an excellent cigar, that probably can’t be beat if you’re looking for complexity of flavor.
This is one of the box pressed cigars from La Flor Dominicana. It has a dark toothy wrapper and starts off with a peppery taste with hints of wood and coffee beans. Midway through the flavor really smooths out and develops with hints of licorice and spice. The final third doesn’t disapoint at all. This is an excellent full bodied cigar, a real finger burner. I did not want to put it down.
The first thing I noticed about this cigar was it’s attractive oily wrapper, then it’s perfect “cigar shop” smell. I thought to myself, “now this is what a cigar should smell like.” Once lit, it didn’t disappoint either. I lit it, then walked inside to get a few things. As soon as I returned to the patio, the awesome aroma of this cigar hit my nose. This is a premium cigar. They are medium bodied, and have an earthy but smooth flavor with hints of spice and sweetness. They are supposedly cuban seed cigars, and I do notice the fruitiness that I often taste in top notch cubans. This cigar burns nicely and is excellent from start to finish. I won’t hesitate picking them up again in the future.
This stogie starts off great, with classic partagas flavor, but more full bodied. This cigar has an earthy flavor with the nice aromatic sweetness I find in the partagas S series and seasonal blends. The burn and ash are close to perfection. This is a finger burner. I had a hard time putting it down.
While this cigar had some construction problems I noticed before removing the cellophane, it starts off witha nice mild, spicy aromatic flavor with hints of ginger and vanilla. The draw is very nice, but the wrapper was cracked and unraveling in a few places. Since this is my first Xicar HC though, I won’t pass judgement. The flavor starts out really nice and mild with a creaminess to it. It stays consistent throughout. This is an excellent cigar if you’re in the market for a mild robusto. Also a good one to try if you’re a Macanudo smoker looking to move up.
This is a cabinet selection cigar from Altadis that starts out mild and smooth with hints of coffee and nuts. It produces a very tight white ash on the cigar as it burns. Midway through the cigar has maintained as perfect a burn as possible. The flavor is mild to medium with hints of coffee and nuts and sweetness. The smoke is very delightful, and it is obvious that this is premium quality tobacco. This is an excellent cigar.
I guess I’m on a fuente kick, because tonight I decided to try the Opus X super belicoso. Prelight aroma is amazingly sweet with the distinct smell of honey. Funny thing was, the cigar wrapper almost felt sticky in spots like it really did jave honey on it. After lighting it starts off peppery with full flavor of wood, spice, and mild sweetness. It smooths out quickly in the first third and gets that nice aromatic sweetness that the upper end Fuentes have. It keeps its full flavor and adds some hints of cocoa and licorice. This is an excellent full flavored cigar.
This cigar starts of with an easy draw and a peppery taste. It develops a real woodsy flavor with subtle spicy sweetness. It smooths out midway through, then picks up the pepper more in the final third. This is a great cigar, full bodied like I prefer usually, but I tend to like the smoother more flavorful ones.
This is the LADC with a natural wrapper. It starts out with a great full flavor, smooth, really sweet coffee notes and fruity spice that it maintains from start to finish. I am very impressed with this cigar, and I plan on adding it to my shopping list.
I’m not exactly sure what year this is from. It’s not one of the “limited reserves” I see for sale online, and the price is much cheaper. Also this has a cameroon wrapper. The celo had a light brown tint, making me think it is well aged. Upon lighting it, it is mild in flavor but sweet and aromatic. I can’t get enough of the smell of this cigar. It is tightly rolled and produces a tight ash with a stiff draw. The flavor develops more midway through with hints of licorice and spice. At the final third the flavor is complex with hints of fruit and tea as well. This is a top-notch cigar. It has probably been aged a good while. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quality mild smoke.
This cigar starts off full flavored with tastes of pepper, coffee, and wood. It smooths out a little halfway through and develops a spicy sweetness, keeping its full flavor and billowing smoke. Excellent burn, white ash, develops some licorice taste towards the end. An excellent stogie.
Starts off peppery with a full body. It smooths out nicely and has a sweet spicy flavor. Lots of thick billowing smoke. This cigar is full bodied with hints of leather and cedar and earthy flavors. It maintains a sweet spice throughout and is very pleasant when passed through the nose. This is an excellent cigar. The burn was a little crooked at times, but that doesn’t bother me at all. It does remind me of the Opus X.
I love the Oliva V’s. My first box was the figurado shape; today I got my second box in the mail, Churchills. This is a lone Belicoso I had sitting in the humidor, and I chose it because I thought it might be a quicker smoke in this developing weather situation I’m in. While it started off with a lot more pepper than the others I’ve smoked, it quickly smoothed out to that rich coffee and caramel taste I love in these cigars. Down to the last third the taste is incredible, and I feel the faimiar nicotine buzz kicking in. Sweet! I love these stogies.
I just smoke my first Hemingway, and I’m very impressed. The cigar was constructed perfectly and burnt evenly with only one minor touch up. The flavor was mild to medium but spicy with hints of cocoa, licorice, and sweetness. Definitely a finger burner here. I will smoke more of these in the future.
A lesson I learned recently. Don’t buy an expensive cigar that you’ve never tried before for a special occasion unless you’re going to have the opportunity to really sit down and experience it, paying attention to the flavors.
I’ve made this mistake twice so far. Once on New Year’s eve. We were lighting fireworks and socializing, and I smoked one of those “special ocassion cigars…” To this day, I can’t recall anything special about it. I was too busy doing what I was doing to pay any attention to it.
The second time was in the french quarter after the Saints’ Superbowl win. A Padron family reserve went to waste because nothing could compare to what I had just experienced!
Note to self- grab your go to favorites for those events in the future.
This cigar feels like it’s rolled really tight, but has a super easy draw. It’s kind of neat in a way because I wasn’t expecting that. It starts off great, full of flavor, a peppery smoke with some woodsy flavors and dark chocolate. Stays consistent the whole way through. Excellent smoke.
This is a churchill sized Nicaraguan puro. I have read good things about illusione cigars, so I decided to try a few. This is my first. I noticed that the foot was wrapped very loose. It has a very easy draw and so far no burn issues. The first third is mild to medium in flavor with some earthy sweetness to the taste. Halfway through the flavor has really taken off. It’s a lot more full now, with hints of caramel sweet cocoa and spices. It’s a lot more full flavored after halftime. Some pepper too. Near perfect burn. Looks like everything I read was accurate, this is an excellent cigar.
I’m not sure exactly which one this is, but its roughly 40 x 5. It has a dark wrapper, perfect burn and construction. Nice plume showing on the wrapper too. This is a top notch cigar. It has a complex flavor of chocolate, pepper, and spice from start to finish. I highly recommend it.
I’ve been excited to try this cigar since it has double ligero filler, which I like. It starts off smooth with an earthy flavor and develops some sweetness as it progresses. The smoke has a cocoa aroma to it. The flavor starts to show up more after the first third, and I taste some licorice and cedar notes. It gets even better in the last third. I’m thinking the Robusto might be the size to try in these because the first third didn’t have much flavor. Great cigar though overall. No burn issues either.
This is a churchill size cigar with a dark toothy wrapper. It starts off mild with some chocolate and coffee aroma, and a tight white ash. About halfway through I’ve got trouble, unraveling wrapper and a split in a different spot that is growing. So far, I’m not crazy about this thing. I heard these were more full bodied than most Ashtons, but I’m struggling to get any smoke out of it. On top of that, it’s doing some godawful unraveling now. I can’t believe I paid almost $20 for this thing. I’m not saying all of them are like this, maybe I got a bad one. The flavor is a personal preference, and this is more of a daytime cigar for me. Down to the final third and I’m finally tasting some flavor from it, I think it will finish off nice.
This is my first time smoking the infamous Opus X. It seems to be tightly rolled, but the draw is perfect once lit. It starts off with a peppery, bold flavor with an aromatic sweetness that smells great when brought through the nose. The finish is peppery. The ash is light grey and holds tight. Halfway through the complex flavor continues and the burn is perfect. Some cinnamon flavor..noted. Then it seems to mellow out a bit, becoming a bit smoother. The taste in my mouth is delicious. In some ways it reminds me of my favorite Partagas, but bolder and with more complexity. How someone can create such a perfect cigar is beyond me; I will smoke them though. This also seems like a cigar well worth aging.
This robusto came in a metal tube and had nice plume on it when removed. It has a dark veiny wrapper, and it appears to be well made. It starts off with definite tastes of chocolate cocoa and licorice, a little pepper and spice. It has a flaky greu ash. I really like it so far because the flavor is complex and different. It finishes off with an earthy flavor with more pepper. This is a premium cigar, medium to full in body, definitely worth trying.
This is a small figurado shaped cabinet selection cigar from Romeo & Juliet. I did a few Google searches before this review, and it doesn’t seem there is much about it on the web. It has a Cameroon wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler. The cigar is tighly rolled with excellent construction, no soft spots, and a nice draw. It starts off mellow with hints of nuts and spice. The smoke is smooth and creamy. It stays consistent the whole way through, but develops some more peppery taste towards the end. An excellent cigar.
This is a mellow partagas compared to others I’ve smoked. It is well made though, and the box date is 13 months old. The ash is tight and grey in color. Its flavor is sweet with hints of spice and an overall earthy flavor. The bur was a bit uneven, but this could have been due in part to me smoking it too quickly.
This is my first time smoking this popular cigar. It is tightly rolled with a stiff draw, but not so much so that it is a problem. The outward appearance seems flawless. The first third is incredible. The cigar has great flavor with sweet aromatic smoke that tastes great when passed through the sinuses. It definitely has a complexity that is difficult to describe. I’d like to say coffee, cream and berries, but there’s more to it than that. I’m not experienced enough to know why people get so hung up on a cigar’s ash, but this cigar has the whitest ash I’ve seen. It holds solid for quite a while too.
Midway through, a little pepper and more spice, it maintains its sweet aroma. From start to finish, the best way I can describe this cigar is Wow! It definitely lives up to its name. This is one of the best cigars I’ve smoked. Can’t wait to compare the cuban version. This review was for the brown label no. 2. I later smoked a white label, and it was very similar but milder.
This is a great mild cigar that has consistent flavor from start to finish. It is well constructed with a flawless burn. The flavors I tasted were a creamy combination of coffee and nuts with a subtle sweetness. This is a great daytime smoke. I will keep an eye out for a good deal on a box of these.

Surprisingly, this cigar started off very peppery. The pepper quickly subsided though, and I began to notice the creaminess I had been told this cigar would have. I also noticed some sweetness on my tongue after exhaling. The cigar was great, and a unique flavor, but not to my tastes for the hefty price tag. Others may disagree.
